Rj question: We are constantly making calculations throughout our lives". Do you agree with this statement? Why?
Response: Yes, i do agree that we are constantly making calculations throughout our lives. From our baby steps until the time we are on our death bed we are making calculations. When we are going to buy things, we calculate. When we do something, we calculate. Even when we love someone, we calculate the amount of love they are giving to us and comparing it with the amount we are giving them. Sometimes when we do not calculate, we do not know what is the next step to take. Example is when we are buying something. If we do not go with an objective and budget into the shop, we might overspend or end up with cash shortage just because we failed to calculate. In fact calculation is something like planning. It helps us to judge certain things. That's all. Saras :)
Reply from Faci: True, calculation is a means of evaluation, and helps us plan our course of action. We weigh the pros and cons of the options available, and make the best judgement or decision we know how. But they almost always involve an element of risk. Even taking your example of loving someone, calculating whether we're getting a fair amount of love back in return is common, though we often have no definite way of determining how to actually calculate that! And there's risk involved in giving of our love too, isn't there? :)
